On a rainy day you might find me outside, walking barefoot through the mud because I like how it feels. Hot showers are a must, as are clothes-free romps through an empty house afterwards.
As the frosty snow of January begins to settle, I'm probably cozied up by a fire with tea and a good book, or perhaps out with my friends playing at open mic nights in downtown cafés.
There's little better than swing ballads by Tommy Dorsey and Frank Sinatra, although Springsteen's anthem "Born to Run" comes pretty close. If jazz trombone and blues harp can't make you forget all your troubles, I don't know what can.
A music teacher of mine once told me, "There are no mistakes, only improvisations," and I think that's a good rule to live by. Of course, family and friends always come first, because I know that I couldn't live without them.
